Aquatic Rescue for Group 3 Pools

Aim

The Aquatic Rescue for Group 3 Pools training course has been designed to the meet the patron rescue requirements of the Code of Practice for the Design, Construction, Operation, Management and Maintenance of Aquatic Facilities in Western Australia.

Description

This training course has been designed to enable participants to respond to a call for help quickly enough to minimise the chance of a person suffering long-term damage as a result of an aquatic incident or accident. This training course is specifically for Group 3 swimming pool owners/operators in Western Australia.

The Aquatic Rescue for Group 3 Pools award needs to be re-assessed every three (3) years as outlined in the Code of Practice.

Course Information

• Course Duration: 3 hours
• Certification:
  On successful completion candidates will receive: - Aquatic Rescue for Group 3 Pool award from Royal Life Saving.


• Course Fee: $120.00 ($0.00 GST)
• Fee Includes: Instruction, pool entry and learning resources

Course Content

The following areas are assessed as part of the Aquatic Rescue for Group 3 Pool award:
Theory: Theory on aquatic environments, water safety and rescue techniques.

Dry Rescue: Rescue a person in difficulty (weak swimmer) no more than 5 metres from safety using an aid without entering the water. (Demonstration of a reach rescue or a throwing rescue.)

Accompanied Rescue: Rescue a person is in difficulty with a flotation aid.

Recover & Resuscitate: In deepest part of the pool;

• recover an object from the bottom
• substitute the object for a person simulating unconsciousness and tow to a point of support.
• assess for respiratory failure and demonstrate Rescue Breathing for 1 minute.
• land the person with assistance and then place in the lateral position.
