Bronze Medallion / Pool Lifeguard

Aim

This combined training course provides participants with skills required to work as a Lifeguard in an aquatic centre. The training course combines the Bronze Medallion and the Pool Lifeguard into a convenient 4-day program.

Description

This training course will provide participants with the Bronze Medallion and Pool Lifeguard qualifications. If you already have a Senior First Aid qualification you now have all that is required to work as a Pool Lifeguard in an aquatic centre in Western Australia. This is an entry-level qualification that can lead to an exciting career in the aquatic recreation industry.

This is a convenient 4-day training course that can save you time and money.

Earn top $$$ and have FUN

The current industry requirement for employment as a Pool Lifeguard in a public swimming pool is a Pool Lifeguard Award and a Senior First Aid certificate.

The Pool Lifeguard Award conducted by Royal Life Saving is recognised throughout Australia and in many countries around the world. This is an entry-level qualification that can lead to an exciting career in the aquatic recreation industry. The Pool Lifeguard course can be conducted in the Perth metropolitan area and many other locations in Western Australia.

Qualified Pool Lifeguards are required for full-time, part-time and vacation jobs. Please visit the Employment section of this website for jobs that are currently available in Western Australia.

Course Information

• Pre-requisite: Current Senior First Aid Certificate (HLTFA301B)
• Minimum Age Requirements: 16 years (generally 18 years to be employed)
• Course Duration: 32 hours
• Certification: On successful completion of the course and the on-the-job assessment candidates will receive the following awards:
  • RLSSA Oxygen Resuscitation certificate
  • RLSSA Bronze Medallion certificate
  • RLSSA Pool Lifeguard certificate
  • A Statement of Attainment that includes the following units of competence from the National Community Recreation Industry Training Package:
    • SRC AQU 003B - Respond to an aquatic emergency using basic water rescue techniques
    • SRC AQU 006B - Supervise clients in an aquatic facility or environment
    • SRC AQU 007B - Respond to an aquatic emergency using advanced water rescue techniques
