Stage 5 — Water Sense
Water Sense develops an understanding of the elements in being water safe while extending swimming and survival abilities. Having gained this skill give pool lifesaving a try. Contact Royal Life Saving to find out more. Enrol in your next stage – Junior to learn how to do a competitive swimming dive as well as gain the ability to swim one lap of a 50m pool.

Effective leg action; Toes turn out; Sculling hand action. |
| 31 | DEMONSTRATE A SURFACE DIVE. Shoulder deep. Recover an object. |
Breaststroke approach; Head first dive; Vertical descent. |
| 32 | WATER SAFETY SEQUENCE | Step in entry. Scull for 60 seconds using a combination of survival sculling and horizontal sculling, keeping the face above water. Grasp a flotation aid thrown for support and swim for 60 seconds. Be pulled to safety by a partner. |
