About the Centre
The Newman Churchlands Swimming Club is located in the ground of Newman College, on Empire Avenue in Churchlands. This beautifully manicured 50-meter pool, fully maintained by the College groundsman was originally built in 1976, and is situated on the grounds at the senior campus. Extensive shade structures are erected over the summer months to provide a relaxing and tranquil environment.

To promote the sport of swimming in the community through the Newman Churchlands Swimming Club, by developing, encouraging and challenging swimmers at all levels in a healthy social environment.Services and Facilities
The club operates all year round with a summer emphasis. The summer program runs between October and March. Winter programs run April to November at Bold Park Aquatic Centre. The Club offers a full Coaching program, from the social swimmer to the competitive. Coach days are - Monday, Wednesday and Friday before Christmas; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday’s from 1st February between 4pm and 6pm.
Swim & Survive Program (Endorsed by the Royal Life Saving Society)
- Levels 1 to 12
- Vacation swimming programs available during the Christmas period. Two series in January; each series consists of 10 condensed lessons over a two week period.
- Swimming meets, where you can come and race against other swimmers on a Saturday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm or a Twilight meet from 6pm to 8pm. On the twilight meets a sausage sizzle is conducted. Swimmers nominate which races they wish to participate in and they are then placed in heats according to their times, swimming against swimmers with a similar time.
- Aussi also operate from the club, for those swimmers over 20 years of age. Members train each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm during the summer months and at Beatty Park Aquatic Centre during the winter months. CENTRE HOURS Winter Coaching Program April to October - Bold Park Aquatic Centre - afternoon’s only from 4pm Summer Coaching Program October to April - Afternoons 4pm to 6pm Summer Swim & Survive Program - Vacation Program during January from 9am to 11.30am The Newman Churchlands Swimming Club, during the winter month’s train out of a different facility as the college pool does not have heated water, for these reason the Club is unable to offer other programmes during the winter.
