About the Centre
The City of Bayswater has more than 56,000 residents and stretches over an area of 32.8 square kilometres. The City recognises the Aquatic Centre as the flagship in recreation. Bayswater Waves attracts over 800,000 visitors annually to the Centre.
The Bayswater Waves Aquatic Centre is located on the corner of Broun Avenue and Priestley Street, Embleton, approximately 10 km from the CBD.
The Aquatic Centre originally opened in 1972 and underwent a major upgrade to a multi-purpose Aquatic Centre in 1998.

Bayswater Waves features Western Australia’s only Wave Pool with five other pools that include an Olympic, Dive and 25 metre lap pools, Hydrotherapy pool, spa and toddlers pool.

Learning to swim is a life skill for your children which promotes health, safety and recreational enjoyment for the rest of their lives.
Parent and Baby Program
With an emphasis on water familiarisation, our aim is to introduce basic skills and water safety through enjoyable experiences and routines. This program follows child development and key strands including 'getting wet', 'keeping balance', 'breathing', 'basic kick and arm action', 'going underwater' and 'staying afloat'. Classes are conducted in the Hydrotherapy Pool which is heated to 33-34 degrees, providing a safe and comfortable learning environment.
Pre School Program
These classes are designed to introduce water familiarisation and safety. Once these skills have been achieved we progress to the introduction and development of strokes. Classes are held in the 25m Indoor Heated Pool and are conducted on a specially designed teaching platform. Our Pre School Classes are 30 minutes in duration. Note: some classes require parental assistance.
School Age Program
This program follows the Royal Life Saving Society's 'Swim & Survive' continuum, offering stages 1-15. The emphasis is on stroke introduction, development and water safety. These classes are 30 minutes in duration, increasing to 40 minutes for stages 10+ and 1 hour for stage 15.
Adults
Beginner and intermediate group classes are available, providing a safe and supportive environment in which to learn and develop water skills and swimming strokes. Classes are held in the 20m Indoor Heated Pool and are 40 minutes in duration.
