Western Australians Underestimating River Dangers

Western Australians are drastically underestimating the risks of recreating in and around rivers, creeks and streams. A recent national report by the Royal Life Saving Society revealed that these in-land aquatic settings are the most deadly with 735 Australians drowning in a river, creek or stream between 2002 and 2012. Despite this, results from a local survey conducted over the last fortnight by Royal Life Saving Society of WA (RLSSWA) show that less than 5% of Western Australians identify this location as the most life threatening.
