The South West Sports Centre, owned and operated by the City of Bunbury, is the south west's $12.6 million premier leisure facility. The largest facility of its kind outside of Perth, the centre is conveniently located 10 minutes from the Bunbury CBD.
The original 'dry' recreation centre was opened on the 10th of March 1973 with the addition of an indoor heated 25m swimming pool in 1983. Nearly twenty years later in 2002, the centre was transformed into a state of the art, multi-use leisure facility with the construction of the indoor 10-lane Olympic 50m Pool, 25m indoor lap pool with adjoining free-form leisure pool, spa, sauna & steam room, gymnasium, group fitness studio, spin cycling room, cafe, creche, office space and meeting rooms.
Today, the centre is a vibrant hub of activity servicing the community of Bunbury and surrounding shires. Each year the centre hosts a number of state, community and even national sporting events.
The South West Sports Centre offers a comprehensive Learn-to-Swim program for all ages and abilities through its Little Lappers Swim School which is Austswim accredited and endorsed by the Royal Lifesaving Society's Swim and Survive Program.
