Another Lucky Duck left Quacking with Excitement!

Thousands of West Australians flocked down to the Swan River on Saturday 26th January for the Australia Day sky show to be involved in the huge range of family and youth entertainment on both the City of Perth and South Perth foreshores. Some of those people would have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of this year's Great Australia Day Duck Pluck winner.

The Great Australia Day Duck Pluck raffle raises funds for increasing awareness in preventing toddler drowning. All proceeds go towards funding Royal Life Saving Society WA's program Keep Watch which strives to eliminate toddler drowning deaths in Australia.

On Australia Day we had the pond-toon boat soaring around the river handing out giveaways to boats that had rafted up for the sky show. Our giant new water slides saw over 1,500 kids slipping and sliding on the Perth & South Perth foreshores!

This Australia Day saw Brenden from Kalgoorlie celebrating both Australian culture and having his lucky ticket plucked, taking the $20,000 cash! Brenden purchased the ticket from an Aquatic Facility in Kalgoorlie. Having three children under 6 years old, Brenden knows only too well the importance of teaching kids to swim from a young age and keeping a close eye on them around water.

Allan Godfrey, Marketing Manager at Royal Life Saving WA said "This year's event was extremely successful, the new location on the South Perth Foreshore with our slip and slide meant kids could have a play whilst their parents could purchase raffle tickets or talk to staff about toddler drowning prevention. Our new location in the family entertainment zone on the Perth Foreshore meant we had optimal access to families with young children to promote water safety messages. This year we had over 25,000 Western Australians support the campaign which is a wonderful indication of the support the community has for the society."

The 2013 Great Australia Day Duck Pluck

raffle was sponsored by Royal Life Saving WA's Principal Community Partner - BHP Billiton. Through their support, BHP Billiton has made significant contributions towards toddler drowning prevention in WA.
