Like many other injury prevention areas, Indigenous youth are at a much higher risk of alcohol related drowning death, near-drowning and associated injuries. It is therefore important to ensure that these communities have access to culturally relevant information, resources and services to reduce their risk.
Royal Life Saving WA promotes the message Don’t Drink Guri and Swim in an effort to prevent alcohol related drowning death amongst Indigenous communities within the Pilbara region. The message is promoted through schools, local community youth groups and youth events in the region.
